Taking a World Language in high school is both useful and fun. In addition, you may be eligible for recognition and college credit for your hard work.
California State Seal of Biliteracy
The State of California will award you a Seal of Biliteracy for demonstrating attainment of a high level of proficiency in a second language to students studying a language and to native/heritage speakers. To receive this seal, you must score proficient in English on the state test and either a) pass one of the tests below or b) complete four years of high school language study with a 3.0 in your language classes and a 2.0 overall. Approximately 10% of PVHS graduates are awarded this seal each year.
Sat Subject Tests Take these tests after 2-4 years of language study or if it is your native or heritage language.

Some colleges and universities award college credit for successful completion of an AP or IB examination in world languages.
